Attendance Update
The school's attendance to Friday 28th November:
- Whole school
- Overall Attendance = 94.3%
- Persistent absent students – 90% or less = 101 or 14.4%
Year group attendance:
| Overall | Persistant Absence | |
|---|---|---|
| Year 7 | 96.92% | 8 or 5.6% |
| Year 8 | 94.91% | 17 or 11.7% |
| Year 9 | 93.19% | 32 or 21.8% |
| Year 10 | 93.06% | 24 or 17.3% |
| Year 11 | 93.27% | 20 or 15.9% |
Why does attendance matter?
This information is from year 11 last year. Attendance is the biggest factor in how well pupils do in their exams.
Year 11 attendance compared to outcomes Summer 2025:
Attendance | Average Grade (across 8 subjects) |
|---|---|
| 0% to 49% | 2.27 |
| 50% to 74.9% | 2.74 |
| 75% to 89.9% | 4.85 |
| 90% to 94.9% | 5.28 |
| 95% to 100% | 5.86 |
GCSE qualifications are graded from 1 to 9, with 9 being the highest.
The difference between having attendance below 90% gaining an average result of 4.85 compares to 5.86% for over 95%. This is more than 1 whole grade higher in each of their 8 qualifications.
How do we judge you attendance?
In a test, for most people, 89% would be considered good. In terms of attendance, below 90% is considered as persistently absent.
90% attendance is 20 missed days of school over the year or 100 missed days over the 5 years at high school. It becomes obvious why pupils with 90% attendance have less chance of reaching their potential when then miss over 300 lessons.

Allergy Reminder
Please note that Endon High School operates as a nut-free site, and has now extended this to being sesame-seed free as well. This was shared in the last bulletin, can parents be very vigilant of this, and support their child to maintain the integrity of being a nut and sesame free school.
The Assessment Window
The current assessment window concludes on Wednesday 3rd December. Until Wednesday the shortened day continues.
We have been delighted by how many pupils have worked really hard to review their work from this term, and then answer questions on it in the assessments. Just a few days to go, then it's over to the staff to get all those papers marked!
A few key dates coming up to complete this process.
- Year 11 pupils will not be given any GCSE grades in any subject prior to our 'Mock Results Day' which will take place on Tuesday 13th January.
- A Parents' Evening will then follow on Thursday 15th January so that Parents can meet subject staff to review where pupils are upto, and make a plan moving forward. Miss Hill will be in touch about making appointments so please 'save the date'.
- Year 7-10 results will be reported to parents in w/c 19th January.
In all year groups, staff will be using the information that they will get from the assessments to review work and fill gaps in knowledge to help pupils make better progress.

Uniform Issue
We’ve noticed a few pupils wearing round-neck jumpers rather than the v-neck. This is not part of our uniform.
Thank you for your support on our last push as we continue to challenge the jewellery being worn on site, which is not in line with school expectations.
Please ensure your child attends school in full compliance with our uniform policy.

Tours will be available each day at 9:30, 11:30, and 13:30, with places offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Booking places will go live on ParentPay on Monday morning at approximately 10am.

Operation Compass
Endon High School is part of Operation Encompass which is a national scheme that operates jointly between schools and police forces.
Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has experienced domestic abuse.
We have ensured that a member of our staff, Mr Keates (Designated Safeguarding Lead) is our Key Adult, and he has been trained in the Operation Encompass procedures allowing us to then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to support the child/ren in our care. He is supported by Key Stage Leads, the Progress Managers and the Pastoral Leaders in following these procedures.
The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 identifies children who experience domestic abuse as victims of domestic abuse in their own right.
On 24 May 2024 Royal Assent was granted to The Victims and Prisoners Act. The Act placed Operation Encompass into Law.
This places a statutory obligation on police forces to share Operation Encompass notifications with schools/educational settings.
We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and through Operation Encompass we will be able to provide the best possible support to our children.
Severe Weather
As we move into the winter months, we want to ensure that families are well-prepared for any disruption caused by snow or other severe weather. To help everyone understand how decisions are made and what to expect in different situations, we are sharing our updated Severe Weather Plan for 2025–26.
The document outlines the steps the school will take under various weather scenarios, how and when we will communicate decisions, and what we ask from families to help keep the whole community safe. We encourage all parents and carers to read the plan carefully and make sure they can access messages sent through Arbor and Firefly.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us respond quickly and safely during adverse weather.
Appointments
A few parents have arrived at school, or called, wanting to speak to someone beyond the reception staff. I politely remind you that all parents need to contact the school to arrange an appointment to both meet with a member of staff in person or to arrange a call back.
We do not want you to percieve this as inconsiderate, schools are busy places, and staff will all have commitments throughout their day to manage.
Please work with us and we will do our very best to ensure we respond to your requests in a timely manner. On the same day if a pupil is at risk of immediate harm and for all other matters we will reply to arrange a response, to arrange a meeting or to arrange a call, within 48 hours.
Thank you for your support.
Thank you!
Thank you to any stakeholders that spot a mistake in the bulletin. Your feedback helps us to quickly respond and retify our error. Thank you for your continued support for the school. Please remember to use the school website, Arbor, Firefly and follow our Facebook to keep updated.
