Applying for College/Sixth Form/Apprenticeships
Now is the time to start your college/sixth form/apprenticeship applications; apply early as possible to ensure you have the best opportunity to get on the course you want to.
I have attached a link to prospects with a step-by-step guide on applying to college How to apply for college in the UK | Prospects.ac.uk which may help.
Firstly, attend Open Evenings/Events – this is an important part of the process to ensure you know what the college “feels” like and meet the staff to discuss any courses that you are interested in. I have added the Open Evening/Events poster below.
Once you have visited the colleges/sixth forms, research your chosen route/courses and start your applications. Most colleges/sixth forms want you to apply online. Go to their website and find the Apply Now page. Here are a few local colleges:
- Newcastle College Group = Newcastle, Stafford, Leek College (NSCG)
- Stoke on Trent College = Cauldon, Burslem College
- Stoke on Trent Sixth Form College
- Reaseheath College
- Westwood College
- Leek High School Sixth Form
- St Joseph's Sixth Form
More local establishments are listed here: Post-16 Options — Endon High School
Complete the application form putting as much information as possible. You will be asked for your predicted grades in most cases. As the Mock 1 is not until mid-November, you will not receive your Year 11 predicted grades until the new year. Therefore, we have contacted the colleges/sixth forms and explained this and they have advised for you to add your Year 10 predicted grades which can be updated at a later date. Please do not wait until you receive your Year 11 grades as this will delay your application and, in some cases, you may not get on the course you want to possibly due to limited numbers on specific courses.
PLEASE NOTE: You must follow Miss Hill's advice shared in the last bulletin, please be ready to amend your grades when your mock results are released on Tuesday 13th January. Pupils are encouraged to speak to Miss Hill if they have any questions about Predicted Grades, no other teacher is able to provide them.
Remember, apply to multiple establishments to give you options. You will not need to confirm which college/sixth form you decide to attend until the Results Day in August 2026!
Looking for an Apprenticeship? Visit Open Evenings/Events and speak to college staff about the training element. Most colleges will support you through the process including contacts with employers. You may find the following website useful Become an apprentice
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs Sawyer in school.

Year 8 Cologne 2026
Thank you for those of you that have expressed an interest in the 2026 Cologne trip to Germany for your child.
Due to the popularity of the trip, it is currently oversubscribed. Despite our best efforts this week in contacting the travel company and trying to come up with a solution, there is not enough availability in any of the hostels near to Cologne to accommodate more than 80 students in one singular hostel. However, I have gone back to the travel company and worked with them to create a solution to take all students that are interested and signed up.
This would mean the students being split onto two coaches (organised into friend groups where possible), travelling on the same ferry, and staying in different hostels about 20 minutes apart. The hostels in question are DJH Lindlar and DJH Wipperfürth. Both groups of students would have the same experience of the trip, have the same itinerary, and would have the same day altogether in Phantasialand too.
Organising the trip in this way will not impact on the experience your child has of this trip and will allow us to take all that have currently paid the deposit, up to 100 students.
Due to this extra work taking place, and everything not yet being absolutely confirmed, we ask for your patience. Therefore, confirmations of places will not be in be shared until after the half term holiday.
If you would like to discuss this further or require any more information, please do not hesitate to contact me at tilly.johnson@endon.set.org
