Year 11 Mock Exams

Mock 1 is running from 20th November until 3rd December. Staff then need to mark them and submit results. Mock results will be communicated on Tuesday 13th January. A parents’ evening will then follow.

We must run the exams in the same way that we intend to run them in the Summer. Pupils need to ensure that they have their equipment and that they follow all of the rules communicated to them. If pupils have any general questions around the mechanics of the exams ie where they will be sitting them, will they use an ipad, will they get extra time etc then please ask Mr Jenkins or Miss Forester as soon as possible.

Please note that no electronic devices (apart from a calculator at times) are allowed in the exam hall. If a pupil leaves the hall for any reason during the exam we will use a hand held metal scanner to check for devices. This is to protect the integrity of the exam and the reputation of the pupil.

It is really important that students perform as well as they can as these are the scores that inform the grades that go on College Application forms. Since we have no KS2 data, we don’t have reliable predicted grades for the year group (this is the case nationally). We will use the Mock data (plus Y10 data, and baseline data) to inform pupils what to add onto their applications. If we give grades without this important step then they may be too low, and then they won’t be accepted for a course that they could have been on. If they are too high, then the offer of a place could be withdrawn further down the line which will leave them in a mess.

I know that lots of students have had presentations in school and have visited colleges and are starting to get an idea about what they would like to apply for. I would request patience so that we can do it properly, which colleges generally will understand. Pupils are encouraged to speak to Miss Hill if they have any questions about Predicted Grades, no other teacher is able to provide them.
