Mobile Phone Policy

Following a review of the recent updated DfE guidance, we are increasing our monitoring of the mobile phone policy and ensuring that all pupils follow the established instruction that phones are only permitted when switched off and stored in bags.

Pupils will be randomly wanded at various points throughout a typical school day to ensure that phones are not being kept on their person (for example, in a blazer pocket).

Assemblies will take place next week to explain this increase in monitoring.

Pupils will be informed that, for the first two weeks (the week before the half term holiday and the week after the half term holiday), any phones found on a pupil’s person during a monitoring check will be returned to the pupil’s bag without confiscation.

However, after the first week back following half term holiday, any pupil found with a phone on their person will have it confiscated and the mobile phone policy will be followed.

Year 9 World of Work Day

In the coming months we will be continuing our focus in school on careers and pupils’ futures. In Year 9, pupils are beginning to consider their future options and specifically their GCSE studies. The decisions of what to study is not easy for most, and while we know that you will support them as much as you can outside school, in school it is important that we continue to help mould their immediate future.

During the assessment period in March, we have an excellent opportunity as the Year 9 team to do some work that we hope will have a big impact in getting pupils to think about their futures, by giving them experience of a workplace. This will take place on Thursday 19th March 2026.

Parents are asked to complete the Firefly form above ASAP
