False Start

Please accept our sincere apologies for the disruption at the start of term and thank you for your patience and support. The water leak has been repaired.

Regarding learning, please be assured that we have restructured our curriculum to fully mitigate these lost days. While an individual pupil missing school while the rest of the class moves ahead is challenging to recover, adapting our teaching for the whole cohort together is entirely achievable. We remain completely committed to delivering the high standard of education you expect from us.

Thank you for your continued patience and support, and we apologise again for the disruption.

The News Bulletin

We aim to share a school bulletin once a fortnight throughout the school year. We'll host the bulletin on Firefly so we can easily link to other information, share files, host surveys and keep you informed. It won't be pretty but it will be informative!

The bulletin will be made public, shared via email and posted on the school website but key links and surveys will be password protected using Firefly so that only parents can access them.

Thank you for your continued support for the school. It has been an incredibly positive start to the school year, despite the false start.

Provisional Key Stage 4 Results 2026 – Excellent Outcomes Again at Endon High School!

We are extremely proud to be a high-achieving school where our pupils make outstanding progress. At Endon High, students study a broad and balanced curriculum that enables them to pursue high-quality pathways after Year 11 and thrive in an ever-changing world. We are delighted that 99% of our pupils are continuing in education or entering employment. As a school community, we are immensely proud of the Class of 2025.

Headline Results:

  • Excellent Attainment 8 score of 52.95 (maintaining high attainment in the 50+,  54.11 in 2025).
    • For comparison:
      • National Average in 2024: 46
      • Staffordshire Average in 2024: 44
  • English and Maths results:
    • Grade 4 or above in English and Maths GCSE: 79%
    • Grade 5 or above in English and Maths GCSE: 57%

(Attainment 8 is a government measure that calculates a pupil’s average score across their best eight qualifications, giving an overall picture of school performance.)

Road safety

Following reflecting on an incident, this time last year, where a pupils was hit by a car we ask you to remind you sons and daughter of roas safety. Fortunately the incident did not result in injuries that were life threatening or life changing but the risk is always there. Can parents please reinforce road safety with your sons and daughters. We will also reinforce road safety in school as part of our assemblies and I can assure you it is a key and regular part of our Learning for Life curriculum.

Car Park Reminder

Car parking at school is very limited and the movement of cars on site can be a significant health and safety concern when we are over capacity. Therefore, we ask parents and carers to never drive onto the school site unless you are visiting school with an appointment. We would love to have the space and capacity to allow parents to safely drop off and pick up. However, the car park and site does not provide us with adequate space. Even when the car park is re-modelled the site will not have space to make this possible. 

A limited number of parents are given permission to use the car park due to accessibility issues. 

We therefore acknowledge that there are parking and drop off/pick up pressures in the local community. We politely ask you to please respect the road laws, double  yellow lines, grass verges and neighbours driveways. We often get complaints from local residents and the local PCSOs are vigilant of any issues.  

Bike Safety

All pupils must wear a bicycle helmet if they ride a bike to school. No pupils will be allowed to cycle to school and store their bicycle at school without wearing one. Please note, all bicycles are left in the bicycle store must be locked and are left at your own risk.

Early Close

Thursday 24th September will be the school Open Evening.

As is usual, we close the school a little earlier than usual to accommodate the preparation needed for the evening.

Therefore, on Thursday 24th September, the pupils’ day will finish earlier at 14.00.

The school day will run with different timings, as follows:

  • 08.40 school starts as usual
  • 09.05 Lesson 1
  • 10.25 Break
  • 10.40 Lesson 2
  • 12.00 Lunch
  • 12.40 Lesson 3
  • 14.00 Early finish

Therefore, lessons are 80 rather than 100 minutes and there is no afternoon form time. Endzone will not be running.

Any pupils needing to stay until 15.10 as usual will be accommodated in school.

If you have any issues with your son/daughter finishing early that day please email office@endon.set.org and we will organise how they are supported until the usual end of school time.

  • Tuesday 15th September - Year 7 Parent's/Carer's welcome evening, 6.00-7.00pm in the Main Hall. Pupils need not attend.
  • The Parent/Carer Tech Support drop in session is on Tuesday 22nd September in the Library from 5-6pm.
  • Thursday 24th September – Year 5 & 6 Open Evening. Visitors are welcome to tour the school at 6pm and visit all of the departments and then there will be a formal presentation in the Main Hall at either 5.30pm and at 7.30pm.
  • Tuesday 29th September - Year 11 Parent's/Carer's information evening, 6.00-7.00pm in the Main Hall. Pupils need not attend.
  • Tuesday 6th October - Year 10 Parent's/Carer's information evening, 6.00-7.00pm in the Main Hall. Pupils need not attend.

Parent's Information Evenings

Due to the late start to the school year the parents information evenings have been re-arranged. 

  • Tuesday 15th September - Year 7 Parents/Carers welcome evening, 6.00-7.00pm in the Main Hall. Pupils need not attend.

Year 8 parents are welcome to attend the Year 7 evening if they would like a reminder of how the school works, or they missed the session last year. This is also relevant for any parents, who's pupil is in any year group, that have joined the school mid year.

  • The Parent/Carer Tech Support drop in session is on Tuesday 22nd September in the Library from 5-6pm.
  • Tuesday 29th September - Year 11 Parents/Carers information evening, 6.00-7.00pm in the Main Hall. Pupils need not attend.
  • Tuesday 6th October - Year 10 Parents/Carers information evening, 6.00-7.00pm in the Main Hall. Pupils need not attend.

We'll meet Year 9 parents in the new year to discuss the Year 9 option process.

Year 11 Mentoring

A reminder that the Year 11 mentoring programme starts on Tuesday. All Year 11s meet their mentor at 8.30am on week  2 Tuesday mornings. 

We look forward to seeing all of Year 11 at their next session on Tuesday 15th Sept at 8.30am.

Mr Mottram will be confirming Mentor arrangements on Monday.

Endzone & Enrichment

Pupils have been having assemblies this week looking at the importance of extra-curricular activities and launching the clubs we have on offer. Make sure you keep an eye on future bulletins and Student Notices for new clubs starting as we run a rolling programme alternating with intervention sessions.

Year 11 Intervention & Revision

Mock 1 will be starting on mid November, and preparations for that start now!

The biggest difference that any pupil can make to their grades is by regularly attending school/ lessons and trying their best. However, we want to add in more support beyond that to help them achieve their best.

Starting next week for 4 weeks we will be focussing on the Core subjects.

  • Tuesday English, Wednesday Maths, Thursday Science!
  • All sessions will run straight afterschool from 3:10 until 3:55.
  • Anyone is welcome to these sessions but some pupils will get an invite - if they do, please prioritise it where they can!
  • For English the focus will be preparing for Poetry, in Maths it will be reviewing topics that pupils struggled with in the Summer. For both subjects go to your usual room with your usual teacher. More information to follow!!

Year 7 Standon Bowers

We are very excited to be launching our residential visit with Entrust Outdoors Standon Bowers for a 3-day adventure departing on Wednesday 7th October returning back to school for the usual finish time on Friday 9th October 2025.

There are many recognised benefits to be gained from engaging in outdoor learning visits. These include personal and social development, where independence, teamwork, confidence and self-esteem can be raised and strengthened through fun and challenging group activities, often in new and natural surroundings. Many of these benefits can be transferred back to the classroom and beyond where they can have real and lasting impact.

Working in teams, your child will participate in a number of adventurous activities and sleep dormitories with friends, and with school staff close by.

The total cost of the visit is £226 which includes transport, meals and activities. We are confident that this will be a truly memorable and valuable experience for your child and a great opportunity for all our pupils in Year 7 to enjoy an adventure together, creating and sharing memories that can last a lifetime.

To secure your child’s place on the trip, please can we ask for payment on parentpay by 8am on Wednesday 23rd September. Due to the close proximity of the trip, we are unable to extend this deadline.

Year 7 Drama Trip

There is a Year 7 theatre trip in November to see 'The Borrowers' at the New Vic. It is open to all students in the year group. Tickets are available on ParentPay.

Allergy Information

Please note that Endon High School operates as a nut-free site, and has now extended this to being sesame-seed free as well. Many common packed-lunch items and snacks can contain sesame (for example, hummus, tahini, seeded bread, cereal bars), so we ask you to:

  • Review the ingredients of what your child brings for lunch.
  • Remind your child not to bring any items containing nuts or sesame seeds/oil.

    This measure supports pupils who have severe allergies to nuts and/or sesame — reactions may be triggered even by airborne exposure in some cases.

    Please be aware that allergies can escalate quickly and require immediate medical attention. For your information and reference, here are a few helpful links and guidance for parents:

    Attendance

    • The School attendance target is 96%​
    • Persistent absence target of less than 10% of students (Missing more than 10% of school days)​

    90% in a test at school would be praised.​ However, 90% attendance = 20 days off school each year, 600 minutes of lost learning each day or 100 hours per year. Over the course of 5 years at Endon high school, your child would have missed 500 hours or 100 days (half a school year).​

    Exam results and attendance ​ How are these linked at Endon High School?​

    Based on the Year 11 data from 2023/24, attendance between 0% and 49% resulted in pupils, on average, achieving 2.7 grades below their target across all eight subjects​. Attendance between 75% and 89% resulted in pupils, on average, achieving almost one grade below their target in all eight subjects.​ Attendance of 95% or better resulted in pupils, on average, achieving half a grade better than predicted grades in each of their subjects.​ Attendance matters.
