Religious Studies is taught for 1 x 100 minute lesson per fortnight.

INTENT and IMPLEMENTATION

Curriculum INTENT - The year 9 curriculum delves in to the world of ethics and morality. We explore current and topical issues to think about the nature of our own being and attitudes as well as religious attitudes to these issues. these lessons will give students an insight in to GCSE RE as well as building on some ideas previously taught in Years 7 and 8.


Curriculum Period 1: Human Rights and Poverty and Wealth

Lesson 1 - Human Rights, Social Justice and Religious responses 

Lesson 2 - Is Religion Sexist? 

Lesson 3 - Religious responses to racism 

Lesson 4 - Social responsibility - how should religious people use their wealth? 

Lesson 5 - Is Money the root of all evil? Religious teachings on wealth

Lesson 6 - Should Religious people be wealthy?

Lesson 7 - Why are there so many Conspiracy Theories?

Lesson 8 - Is murder ever justified?
