Curriculum Allocation

L4L is taught for 1x 100 minute lesson per fortnight and within 1 form time per week.

Sessions are compulsory for attendance as full in line with statutory Government guidance and national curriculum standards.

Curriculum Period 1:

Curriculum content

Session 1 - Wellbeing and mental health. Managing change.

Session 2 - Mental health and the media (including Jesy Nelson documentary)

Session 3- Smoking and alcohol - financial costs and other impacts 

Session 4 - Drugs - the laws surrounding them, focus on edibles and 2021 police report on vaping

Session 5- - Being safe focus on alcohol and spiking. 

Session 6 - Cancer - what is it, prevention and treatment (Teenage cancer trust approved resources) Parents informed prior to session

Session 7 - Relationships and consent.

Session 8- What is sexual health, contraception and why is it important?

Form time session content includes - growth mindset, different types of behaviour,, appropriate assertiveness,  dealing with relationships growing up, target setting.

Assessment

The first assessment will be 40 mins long and will contain 50 marks. The content will come from session 1-7 in curriculum period 1.

    As part of the additional time with the assessment block and form time slot all pupils will have their introduction lesson on using Unifrog platform. Pupils will be given the opportunity to log on, try the personality and skills sets and also explore what pathways are available to them post 16 within our are

    Session 1- The dangers of viewing harmful content. Where to get support to report material and manage issues online. The impact of viewing harmful content.  E Safety week link

    Living in wider world

    Session 3: Recap , radicalisation Gangs and knife crime (local link to staffordshire police podcast) Recap previous learning British values/ Protected characteristics

    Session 5: First Aid

    Session 6: Careers and communication

    Session 7: Enterprise and education

    -Form time living in the wider world content includes -  Responsibility , community, being safe, crimes, gangs, money management 

    Additional sessions:

    Charity: Red nose day opportunity DN E safety week links , Mental health week.

    After school: First Aid club Wednesday after school (Mrs Tapley)

    Assessment

    This will be a 40 mins paper and will contain 90% of the marks from session 6 and 7 from curriculum period 1 and lesson 1-3 in curriculum period 2. The remaining 10% will link with work done within the form time sessions. 


      Form time focus - reinforce and recap relationships how to deal with conflict, reinforcing protected characteristics, key terminology including bigotry, prejudice and discrimination, British values and community cohesion, dangerous relationships, effective communication

      Assessment

      The assessment will have a primary focus on Curriculum Period 2 but will also recap topics from Curriculum Periods 1 .
