Curriculum Allocation
German is taught for two 100 minute lessons per fortnight.
This is the content structure for topics across KS3 German.
Curriculum Period 1:
Pupils will focus on a range of topics previously covered in years 7 and 8, but here adding new levels of complex grammatical structures and more advanced vocabulary. Pupils will focus on pronunciation and intonation of the language with extensive exposure to chunks of language in phrase and sentence form. Skills will be further developed in Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking, Translation and Dictation to best prepare pupils for a potential GCSE.
Vocabulary will be set to learn regularly for Homework and tested at the start of the next lesson. Reading, Translation, Writing and Speaking tasks will also be set for Homework in this unit.

| 11 | Town activities | To identify and apply at least 6 activities you can do in your town using man kann |
| 12 | Town problems | To discuss problems within your town |
| 13 | Ideal House | To apply the future tense to discuss your ideal house |
| 14 | In the future | To apply the future tense to say where you will live in the future |
| 15 | Daily Routine | To recall your daily routine and apply it to the topic of town |
| 16 | Christmas | To recall Christmas vocabulary in German and apply the future tense to describe your plans |
Assessment
60-minute assessment testing understanding of grammar, sentence structure and ability to extract information from written passages. This will test only materials learnt in this curriculum period.

| Lessons 17-23: Holidays | Say what where you normally go, transport, weather and activities that you do, describe a past holiday in detail and to plan a holiday |
| Lessons 24-27 Free Time | to say what you do and how often in your free time, to say what you did last weekend using the past tense |
| Lesson 28 Part time jobs | To recall school vocabulary and discuss part time jobs |
Assessment
60-minute assessment testing understanding of grammar, sentence structure and ability to extract information from written passages. This will test mainly materials learnt in this curriculum period (approximate 75-80%) with the remainder of questions being focused on retrieving language learnt in Curriculum period 1.Curriculum Period 3:

Revision resources
