Curriculum Allocation
100 minutes a fortnight (some classes once a week at 50 mins and some classes and one lesson 100 each) and form time once a week (15 -20 mins) enriched with assemblies and endzone activities
Curriculum Period 1: some classes have 5 x 100 mins lessons (500 mins of content)some have 10 lessons of 50 mins
Curriculum content. Where some classes have 100 mins lessons they will have 2 sessions together

Focus - Health and wellbeing and relationships
Session 1 introduction to course and mental health and wellbeing , including how they are feeling about secondary school starts. Mental health support systems at Endon booklet will also be given to them via their form tutors or progress manager. This was made available for parents previously too on transition night and prior correspondence.
Session 2 RSE spec reference - what constitutes to a healthy eating, the principles of planning a healthy meal, characteristics of poor diet and risks of unhealthy eating. The characteristics and mental and physical benefits of an active lifestyle, importance of exercise, risks associated with an inactive lifestyle.
Session 3 Growing up: Key facts about puberty, the changing adolescent body, the main changes in males and females and the implications for emotional and physical health. This is also covered in the reproduction topic of Science. L4L focuses on understanding the changes and gives strategies of support for these changes.
Session 4- The facts about the harms from smoking and drinking including tobacco and vaping. Signposted support systems for all sessions above. Alcohol - The facts about alcohol and the associated risks.
Session 5 - the facts about legal and illegal substances, the different types of drug groups with a focus on caffeine. extension. focus on understanding misconceptions about wellbeing and how to help yourself. Growth mindset and mindfulness is discussed.

Careers sessions
As part of the additional time with the assessment block and form time slot all pupils will have their introduction lesson on using Unifrog platform. Pupils will be given the opportunity to log on, try the personality and skills sets and also explore what pathways are available to them post 16 within our area. LOGINS are also available for Parents
Form time sessions for September to December will include information on transitioning into secondary school, personal strengths and weaknesses (character education, how to target set, how to have friendships and start new ones, how relationships change at secondary school, what risks we may take and why, how to be healthy with a focus on sleep

Continuation from Curriculum period 1 on Health and wellbeing and then onto relationship

Focus on relationships, community and character
Session 6 Health and prevention focus on personal hygiene including germs and viruses and the importance of good dental health.
Session 7 - Recap wellbeing and me, and then Family and relationships- 50mins - different types of stable relationships and family units, how relationships contribute to happiness.
Session 8- Romance and relationships- 50 mins , what is a successful relationship , what is romance.- negative relationships- 50 mins - spotting the signs and how seek help if you experience a negative relationship
Session 9- Pride focus LGBTQ+: RSE reference : pshe ref R3. about the similarities, differences and diversity among people of different sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation. Focusing on key terms what they mean and misconceptions. Equality act 2010 reference (protected characteristics)
session 10 : E safety lesson 100 mins of content - E safety - how to determine whether something or someone is trustworthy, how to seek advice and support and report concerns, the characteristics of healthy and positive friendships

Form time focus January - April - Recap British values, community values and citizenship, how the media influence, money. this will not be assessed within the assessment block.

Assessment
The assessment covers aspects from Curriculum one and the lessons taught so far in curriculum two- The paper will be 40 minutes long containing 50 marks. It will be 100% content based from lessons. It’s best to use their Showbie worksheets to revise .
Curriculum Period 3: 500 mins of content
Focus on relationships, community and character and living in the wider world
session 11: Money Relationships with money. 100 mins of content How money affects our lives and how we have relationships with money.
session 12 Ethical consumerism : what is it , how and why should it change the way we shop? debate.
session 13: First Aid First aid: to understand the basics of First Aid responding from the needs based on student voice and prior knowledge
Session 14 - Careers - this session will be done as an additional session within the assessment period. It will utilise the Unifrog platform resources responding to the needs of the pupils from the student voice.
session 15: Disability documentary and sign language session
Curriculum Period 4: 200 mins of content
Session 16: Citizenship and communities
Form time focus April - July- will include sessions on forced marriage, Respect, diversity, prejudice and stereotypes, bullying, self-worth and self-efficacy and how to encourage others.
