Curriculum Allocation
German is taught for two 100 minute lessons per fortnight.
This is the content structure for topics across KS3 German.
Curriculum Period 1:
Curriculum content
In this initial phase of learning German, the focus is on introducing ourselves. Students will be able to say their name, age, birthday and where they live. They will also be able to give information on family members and pets such as appearance and personality traits. We will also look at our personal interests and hobbies.
In lessons we focus on improving our listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, applying new vocabulary but also building on prior learning. Vocabulary learning tasks alongside reading, writing, translation and speaking tasks are set regularly as both in class and at home tasks.

Assessment
A 60-minute assessment which focus on testing pupils' ability to retrieve the content from Period 1 will take place. The assessment will include reading, writing and listening tasks to test pupil's knowledge of vocabulary and grammar structures covered so far.

Assessment
A 60-minute assessment which focus on testing pupils' ability to retrieve the content from Period 1 will take place. The assessment will include reading, writing and listening tasks to test pupil's knowledge of vocabulary and grammar structures covered so far. 75% of this assessment will be testing understanding from this period. 25% will be recalling aspects introduced during the first curriculum period.
